Located in Delhi, India. It is the first-ever opulent mausoleum structured in India. The splendid architecture belongs to the 16th century and appears like a typical Mughal palace. The best heritage monument is filled with architectural grandeur and excellence. You would love to spend your day in Humayun’s Tomb, which is a perfect reflection of the art and culture of the Mughal era.

The mausoleum was created by Humayun’s wife Hamida Banu Begum in the beloved memory of his deceased husband. The Emperor died in 1556 and it was 1572 when the construction was completed. It took seven long years for the Tomb to be constructed. The total cost of construction was Rs.1.5 million at that time. It would not be wrong to say that Humayun’s tomb reflects true love.

There are some of the most beautiful gardens surrounding the mausoleum. Humayun’s tomb had a very important role to play during the war of 1947. The place served as a camp for refugees. Purana Qila and Humayun’s tomb together were used as a place for camping by refugees of Pakistan. This caused maximum damage to the structure. Eventually, the monument was undertaken by an archaeological survey of India and it was again refurbished to make it look as good as it was.

The Persian-style garden – Charbagh surrounds the structure. Overall, the area has a quadrilateral layout that features a paved walkway pavilion chamber and complex entrance. There are also water channels which today serve as a great source of recreation for the visitors.

At the current time, Humayun’s tomb makes it one of the best tourist places depicting the history of India in Delhi. The complex is maintained by the archaeological survey of India and it has been given cultural significance by UNESCO Heritage site.
